Beschrijving

A US trio who worked in the country rock idiom, Buffalo Club s close harmonies were initially compared to those of Restless Heart - unsurprisingly, given that the band included their long-standing drummer John Dittrich. The other members were vocalist Ron Hemby, formerly a member of the Christian vocal group the Imperials, and Charlie Kelley (b. 1 August 1968), a guitarist who had formerly worked with Doug Stone and Tom Wopat. Hemby had originally met Dittrich when he invited him to consider writing for Restless Heart. When that group disbanded, they decided to put their collaboration on a permanent footing. The band was finalized when they recruited Kelley and signed with manager Dan Goodman. He played a tape to Rising Tide Records president Ken Levitan to secure the band a recording contract. However, Rising Tide was unimpressed by their original choice of name, Johnny Ringo, and persuaded them to change to Buffalo Club. The band s self-titled debut album followed in March 1997. Produced by Barry Beckett and promoted by the successful single If She Don t Love You , critical reaction saw the band compared to the 70s country rock sound of the Eagles.
